My Mission
Make Lives Better Through My Empathy, Insight & Humor
I was born with the gift of empathy. That means I effortlessly walk in the shoes of my clients and audiences. My insight comes from decades of advocating, researching, writing, speaking, and teaching about aging. During those decades, I became an older adult (baby boomer), giving me new perspectives, insights, and drive. My humor, when appropriate, lets my natural communication flow to give "laughter medicine" to audiences. It is threaded throughout my first book on aging, Getting Old and Getting Over It ~ Sort Of, available on Amazon.
My Passion
Helping Adults Positively Navigate
the Older Ages and Stages of Life For Ourselves and Our Loved Ones
I have always had an affinity for older adults. My mom was 40 when I was born. My older sisters (17 and 20 years older) nurtured and supported me, and then I gave back by serving as their primary advocate during their more senior years. My work is in their honor.
Before making aging my vocation, I worked in technical communication as an employee, consultant, or contractor for companies that included (but were not limited to) ADP, Aflac, AT&T, Ceridian, Cox Communications, Georgia Power, The Home Depot, Glint (a LinkedIn company), IBM, Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, and Procter & Gamble (P&G). My Credentials
Along with an MS in Journalism, an MBA in Management, and a Gerontology Certificate in Leadership & Aging, I am a 15-year Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), 15-year Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)®, and I served as a trainer for the REALTORS® Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®) designation course. I also have certificates in "Grant Seeking Essentials" and the "Information Mapping Method®" and certifications in the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) "Human Subjects Research" and "Responsible Conduct of Research."
